We have facial products and skincare routines for our ‘maskne’, but what about our feet?

As we welcome the new year, we must also welcome our ‘new norm’. With the majority of Malaysians vaccinated, we can finally return to some form of normalcy. Getting vaccinated, wearing masks, and adhering to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) have become the ‘new norm’. Aside from that, we may return to the workplace for business, meet people, dine out, and hit the gym and swimming pool.

Slipping back into our high heels, sleek kicks, and our Malaysian favorites — slippers and sandals, as we start to go out more, can do more damage to our feet than we realize. Not wearing the proper footwear and exposing your feet for too long can cause your feet to dry out, especially in air-conditioned places. Moreover, your feet would be more vulnerable to bacteria and viruses when barefoot in places like public showers at the gym. Over time, cracked heels, corns, warts, and calluses will occur if we are not mindful of our feet’ well-being. It would feel as though you are constantly walking on a paper cut. Ouch!

Seeing as our ‘new norm’ necessitates wearing a face mask all day, you may get "maskne" (mask acne) due to clogged pores where bacteria, oil, and sweat are trapped under your mask and onto your skin. So, you take the initiative to take better care of your skin with new skincare products and regular skincare routines. Yet, the body part that gets neglected the most is our feet. Sure, we can cover it up with our shoes when we go out. Nonetheless, the feet are equally as important and deserve equal care as the rest of our face and body.

How To Treat Your Feet Right

When You Go Out

  • Wear shoes that support your heels and fit properly.
  • Wear socks when in air-conditioned places for long periods.
  • Bring a pair of slippers when you go to the swimming pool or gym. Wear them, especially when in the public showers, instead of walking around barefoot.
  • Make it part of your ‘new norm’, and cushion your heels with custom shoe inserts in all your shoes.

When You Come Back Home

  • Foot hygiene is a must! Just as we wash our hands and change clothes every day when we return home, we should also wash our feet properly.
  • Wear cushioned bedroom slippers to remove the pressure off your heels when you walk or stand.
  • Use Ellgy Plus Cracked Heel Cream or Ellgy Plus D Factor Cracked Heel Cream for your cracked heels.
  • If corns, warts, and calluses are the issue, apply Ellgy Corns & Warts Treatment Solution to treat them.
  •

Key Takeaways

  1. Accept that feet care is just as important as skincare.
  2. There are various actions part of our ‘new norm’ that affect our feet.
  3. Always wear proper footwear, practice foot hygiene, and stay moisturized.
